With a forecast for the first snow of the season, it makes sense to gather for Bailey lunch this Friday 12-1pm in Ag Hall room 50  to discuss the opening of the United Nations Climate Change conference that runs Dec. 7-18 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Come gather and share in the viewing of an animated video from the creator of the Story of Stuff that discusses one of the most discussed options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions: the cap and trade. See you then. J

Hello everyone,

I know you all have very busy lives however, if you would like a slice of free pizza and some good discussion meet me tomorrow at 12:00pm at the Bailey Scholars room.

We will discuss travel and how it affects our lives. It is in part a sharing of my middle twelves where I studied abroad to WWII Europe this summer. But I would like to hear about everyone else’s travels as well. We will look into how travel can change our lives and broaden our horizons.

Thank you and see you there,

Andy Priest

Geoff’s response to Andy Priest’s lunch invitation on travel.

Absolutely travel has impacted me. My dad worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development (http://www.usaid.gov/) and my first memories are of Thailand (http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/2814.htm) where we lived for 5 years. I also spent 4 years in Nicaragua (LINK) as a kid. As an adult I lived 4 months in St. John U.S. Virgin Islands (http://www.nps.gov/viis/index.htm) and 3 years in St. Lucia (LINK) as a Peace Corps volunteer (http://gradworks.umi.com/33/17/3317408.html).  So clearly my immediate thoughts to Andy’s email relate to living (and not just traveling, for vacation or otherwise) and in particular living and traveling outside of the U.S.  It is clear to me that my upbringing dominated by travel strongly influenced my academic focus on people and the environment (http://www.reg.msu.edu/Courses/Request.asp?SubjectCode=ISS&CourseNumber=310&Source=SB&Term=1094)  and my current interest in Global Sustainability
